Our fabrics & Transparency

Honest Fabrics. Real Quality. Full Transparency

At Italia Fabrics we believe that knowing exactly what you are buying is not a luxury — it is a right. That is why every fabric in our catalogue comes with full fibre composition details, so you always know what you are working with before you buy.

What We Sell and Where It Comes From

Our fabrics come from F.lli Malavasi Tessuti, a family-run warehouse based in Fossoli di Carpi, Italy, established in 1959. Many of the fabrics in our catalogue are deadstock or vintage Italian fabrics — some dating back 20 to 30 years — sourced exclusively from Italian suppliers and stored with care over decades.

These are not fast fashion fabrics. They were produced at a time when quality was non-negotiable, when fibres were pure and manufacturing standards were high. Bringing them back into the hands of makers is, for us, one of the most sustainable things we can do.

Our Fibres

Most of our fabrics are made from pure natural fibres, occasionally combined with small percentages of elastane or nylon for stretch or technical effect. You will find fabrics composed of:

  • 🌿 Silk
  • 🌿 Wool
  • 🌿 Cotton
  • 🌿 Linen
  • 🌿 Viscose

The full fibre composition of every fabric is listed on its individual product page. We encourage you to always read it before purchasing, especially if you have skin sensitivities or specific project requirements.

A Note on Certifications

We want to be completely transparent with you: Italia Fabrics does not hold official textile certifications such as OEKO-TEX®, GOTS or GRS on our fabrics.

Many of our fabrics are vintage or deadstock pieces produced decades ago, long before modern certification systems existed. What we can tell you is that they were made in Italy, with pure natural fibres, by manufacturers who worked to the high standards that Italian textile production has always been known for.

We believe that honesty is worth more than a label. Rather than making claims we cannot fully verify, we choose to be open about what we know and what we don't — and let the quality of the fabrics speak for itself.

Our Commitment

We are actively working towards greater traceability and transparency as our platform grows. In the meantime, if you have any specific questions about a fabric's composition, origin or suitability for your project, our team is always happy to help.
